Important Updates for MT4 and MT5

The FXOpen Team

FXOpen would like to inform you of some significant updates to the MetaTrader4 (MT4) and MetaTrader5 (MT5) platforms.

Starting from December 1, 2023, the following will be the minimum required versions for the trading platforms:

  • MetaTrader 4 build 1380, released on March 24
  • MetaTrader 5 build 3802, released on June 9

After December 1st, users with older builds cannot log in unless upgraded to the higher versions.

To check which version you are currently using, please open the MetaTrader platform, navigate to ‘Help’ > ‘About’ and you will see the version number displayed on screen.

How to update

Desktop (Windows & MacOS)
1. Check for updates in the MT4/MT5 settings
2. Download and install the updates
3. Restart your MT4/MT5 terminal

Mobile (Android & iOS)
1. Open Google Play Store or AppStore
2. Search for MT4/MT5
3. Tap the “Update” button

Additionally:

Preserving custom data: If you are using custom indicators or chart profiles, safeguard your settings. To do this, copy your profiles from the data folder (File -> Open Data folder) to your PC’s hard drive. After installing the 64-bit version, paste the profiles back into the data folder and relaunch the platform.

Installer changes: All MT4 and MT5 installers are now 64-bit only. The release of 32-bit installers has been discontinued,

Transition period for 32-bit: If you installed using the old 32-bit installer, it will work until January 1, 2024. Ensure a smooth transition by reinstalling with the new 64-bit installer.

We appreciate your attention to these updates, as they are essential to maintaining the operation of your trading accounts.
